Sequoia Capital is preparing to invest in Anthropic, the AI startup best known for its Claude family of large language models. The investment is part of one of the largest private funding rounds in tech this year.

The deal is being led by Singapore's GIC and U.S. investor Coatue. Each is contributing roughly $1.5 billion as part of a planned raise of $25 billion or more at a $350 billion valuation.

Sequoia already holds stakes in rival AI builders such as OpenAI and Elon Musk's xAI. The firm is broadening its exposure across competing AI platforms.

Anthropic itself has grown quickly since its founding by former OpenAI researchers. Industry reporting shows the company has attracted significant talent from established AI labs and introduced advanced models and enterprise features, contributing to its rapid valuation climb over the past year.
