F-Droid has released version 2.0 of its Android app, adding automatic app updates and a redesigned way to find software in its open-source repository. The release begins a staged rollout over the coming weeks. Search now covers app descriptions, categories and translated text, with filters for device compatibility and software that depends on non-free services. On supported devices, newer Android installer features let users approve an installation before the download finishes. Users who rely on F-Droid's panic-trigger app-wiping feature should note that it has not returned in version 2.0.
