African startups raised $183 million in October 2026, down 58% from $435 million a year earlier, Nairametrics reported, citing Africa: The Big Deal. The tally excludes exits and covers 34 startups announcing rounds of at least $100,000, compared with a monthly average of 43 over the preceding year.

Equity supplied $110 million and debt $71 million. Climate technology companies attracted 55% of the month's funding.

Across January through October, funding fell 12% to $2.4 billion. Debt financing declined 33% to $740 million, while equity increased 5% to $1.6 billion, showing that the contraction differed substantially by financing type.
