Cloudflare says MySQL support is now generally available in Hyperdrive, its service that shares database connections across requests from Cloudflare Workers. Hyperdrive previously supported only Postgres before adding MySQL in beta.

The service keeps database connections open and can cache query results to reduce latency and database load. During the beta, a customer encountered unexpected empty responses when caching was enabled. Cloudflare traced the fault to shared caches holding responses encoded for different MySQL protocol capabilities and changed both service nodes to cache results in one canonical format.
