# India plans AI regulation consultation paper within a month

India will bring out a consultation paper on AI regulation within a month, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said Thursday, Times Now reported. The paper will focus on AI safety, deepfakes and a human-first approach to governing the technology.

The consultation is expected to seek views from technology companies, experts and other stakeholders. India has so far addressed AI risks through existing laws and guidelines; the process will examine whether additional AI-specific rules are needed.
