# Preprint reports AI-guided fixes recover performance in translated Rust

Researchers report that an AI-based optimization approach sped up 40 of 41 tested operations in twelve held-out projects translated from C to Rust, while preserving C outputs on all tested workloads. Eighteen operations became faster than the original C implementations.

The approach profiles frequently executed functions and applies reusable rules derived from nine recurring performance problems. A language model checks whether each rewrite fits the project, and changes are retained only after functional and performance validation. The preprint's correctness results cover the tested workloads.
