The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis raised its estimate of second-quarter investment, with data center construction among the leading contributors to the revision in private fixed investment. Revised Census Bureau construction data for May and June drove the increase in nonresidential structures, led by commercial and health care construction, mainly data centers.

The agency raised second-quarter real GDP growth by 0.7 percentage point to a 2.2 percent annual rate. Consumer and government spending also contributed to the upgrade; the release does not assign the entire GDP revision to data centers.
