# Writer says Meta's Muse synced messages despite denied access

Tech writer Jason Aten says Meta's Muse agent synced messages from a test Mac after he chose not to give it access to his messages. He investigated after Muse suggested an article based on a conversation in iMessage that he had not asked the app to examine, 9to5Mac reports.

Aten says he found the local Messages database had been added as a data source and synced to row 187,462. Muse initially told him it had read only message text visible in notifications. Other users have reported privacy problems, some of which Meta attributed to a bug. Aten's findings concern his test machine.
