# Pentagon adds ChatGPT and Grok to its secure AI portal

The Pentagon has launched tailored versions of OpenAI's ChatGPT and xAI's Grok through GenAI.mil, a centralized portal for Defense Department personnel. TechCrunch reports that ChatGPT Mil and Grok for Government are available to the department's 3 million civilian and military personnel. GenAI.mil had already onboarded more than 1.7 million unique users, according to the department. ChatGPT Mil is intended for routine unclassified work including administration, logistics, planning and policy, with additional features planned over time.
