# Anthropic signs $11.6 billion cloud agreement with Akamai

Anthropic has signed an $11.6 billion agreement to buy Akamai cloud services over seven years, Reuters reported. The AI company also secured an option to acquire a stake of up to 5% in Akamai.

The agreement gives Anthropic another source of computing capacity. Akamai shares rose more than 17% in after-hours trading following the news. The equity stake is an option, rather than a completed purchase.
