Figure AI said it has begun initial production tests at its upcoming BotQ factory, where the robotics company plans to mass-produce its Figure 03 humanoid robot. The company announced it aims to manufacture approximately 12,000 robots annually at the facility. Figure AI said it chose in-house production to retain complete control over the manufacturing process and quality rather than relying on contract manufacturers. The company said it spent eight months developing a scalable manufacturing process, which required redesigning the Figure 02 into the Figure 03 for simpler assembly. Figure AI said it replaced CNC milling with tool-based injection molding, die casting, metal injection molding and stamping to reduce manufacturing time and costs. The company said parts that previously took over a week to mill are now produced in steel molds within 20 seconds. Figure AI said it has established initial supplier partnerships to support a supply chain capable of producing 100,000 robots or 3 million actuators within four years. The company said production will combine automation controlled by artificial intelligence with human supervision, and that it intends to use its own humanoid robots for repetitive tasks as early as 2025.
