Netgear patches local-network flaws, with some retired routers still exposed

Your Netgear router may be vulnerable to a security exploit – how to check and patch it Image: Primary
Netgear has released firmware patches for security flaws affecting selected routers and range extenders, ZDNET reported. The medium-severity vulnerabilities require local network access and can expose device settings, allow unauthorized commands or enable hijacking of an authenticated administrator session. CVE-2026-11732 affects four router models and requires the Block Sites feature to be enabled. CVE-2026-11731 lets an unauthenticated attacker with local network and management-service access view and modify settings on three models. Some affected devices have reached end of service. The latest firmware does not fix the current security flaws on the CBR40 and R7300DST, and Netgear advises owners to replace those devices.
