El Reno, Oklahoma, condemned an Athlon Blockchain LLC-owned bitcoin mining data center after a leak of 3 million gallons of water closed schools, businesses, and city and county offices last week, according to KOCO-TV as reported by Tom's Hardware. The city says it had issued a 2023 stop-work order citing fire and life-safety violations and expired permits. It says it will seek to recover leak-related costs from the property owner and will routinely review compliance.
