# Helical Fusion named final candidate for Japan's METI demonstration program

Helical Fusion said it has been named a final candidate for Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry program supporting fusion-power demonstration.

The milestone-based program is intended to support multiple private-sector fusion approaches and anticipates about JPY 60 billion in government support over three years through 2028. Helical Fusion said the amount it may receive will be announced only after a formal grant decision. The company is developing a stellarator-based fusion program and says construction and manufacturing for an integrated demonstration device's magnet work are underway.
