Anthropic said it identified and disrupted industrial-scale illicit distillation campaigns against Claude run by seven China-based labs, including Alibaba, Moonshot, DeepSeek, Z.ai and MiniMax.

The company said the labs routed requests through proxy services and thousands of fraudulent accounts using fake or stolen credentials and API keys. Anthropic described GTG-16005, an Alibaba-affiliated cluster, as the largest distillation attack it has measured, with 151 million exchanges between May and July 2026 peaking near 3 million per day.

It said Moonshot and DeepSeek relayed customer requests to Claude without informing users. Anthropic said it bans reseller and unsupported-region accounts and now summarizes internal reasoning to reduce the value of stolen transcripts.
