Apple's research and development spending reached $45.77 billion in fiscal 2026, up 32% from $34.55 billion in fiscal 2025, according to its latest quarterly results. Fourth-quarter R&D expenses totaled $11.73 billion, compared with $8.87 billion a year earlier.

CFO Kevan Parekh previously said AI-related spending was being added to investments in Apple's existing product roadmap. The latest figures show spending holding at the higher level: fourth-quarter expenses increased by just $1 million from Q3.
