NASA's Langley Research Center and the Virginia Department of Energy announced a Space Act Agreement Friday to bring NASA datasets into the state's energy modelling and analysis. Solar, meteorological and future weather-risk data will support assessments of electricity demand, generation and system stress. Virginia Energy will connect to NASA's Prediction of Worldwide Energy Resources web platform through a digital pipeline that downloads datasets directly into its modelling tools. NASA staff will help adapt formats, streamline exchanges and assess additional data needs. The agreement supports resiliency studies, resource analysis and long-term planning for current and potential extreme weather conditions.
