# Cloudflare launches Workers KV Instant private beta with cheaper reads

Cloudflare launched Workers KV Instant in private beta, offering a new mode for storing application settings that uses its internal Quicksilver system. The company says reads finish in under two milliseconds at the 99th percentile and 99% of writes replicate in around 250ms.

Reads cost $0.20 per million keys requested, 60% less than classic Workers KV. The service uses the existing Workers KV API and targets small configuration datasets that applications read frequently but update infrequently.

The tradeoff is expensive storage and writes: storage costs $100 per MB per month, while write, delete and list operations cost $0.10 each. Namespaces are limited to one megabyte and one write per second.
