The Pentagon is treating refrigeration failures at US military commissaries as a suspected cyberattack, four officials told Reuters on Thursday. The failures began in late August, when refrigerators and freezers switched to defrost mode and spoiled food; at least six bases reported problems.

US Cyber Command has joined Army and Air Force investigators, and one official said investigators had spoken with French police after similar incidents at supermarkets in France. The Pentagon has not confirmed unauthorized access or established what caused the US failures. Disclosed refrigeration-control vulnerabilities have not been linked to either incident.
