Reflection introduced Beam, a model for coding, reasoning and tasks that use tools, and said it will release the model's weights and developer artifacts later this month. The model is undergoing final safety testing and evaluations, with early access sign-ups open.

Beam has 501 billion total parameters but activates 23 billion, using a design that routes work through selected expert components. Reflection says it matches GLM-5.2 on advanced reasoning benchmarks while using 3-4× less inference compute.

Users can adjust reasoning effort to trade response length against performance on demanding tasks. Beam is text-only, and Reflection says Kimi K3 remains ahead on raw capability.
