Zoox plans San Diego test fleet with safety drivers

Amazon-owned Zoox said its SUV test fleet will begin operating on San Diego streets by the end of the month, while also expanding into Houston. The San Diego vehicles will carry human safety drivers for the first few months as the company maps the city. Zoox said it plans a local charging and maintenance depot. The company's eventual purpose-built robotaxis differ from the test SUVs, but the source does not give a launch date for passenger service in San Diego.
