Illinois Public Act 104-0664, signed July 31, creates age-assurance obligations for covered operating-system providers and manufacturers, according to a report on the law. By Jan. 1, 2028, providers must offer an account-setup step for an age or birth date and provide requested apps with an encrypted age-bracket signal. The report says the brackets are under 13, 13 to 15, 16 to 17, and 18 and older. It also says enforcement rests with the Illinois attorney general.
