Texas has 474 GW of data-center connection requests in its grid queue, more than five times the state's record peak demand, according to a Reuters analysis cited by The Next Web. The state ordered an audit in early August covering project ownership, tax incentives, water use and power-generation plans. The report says developers can file requests for several possible sites at relatively low cost, leaving grid planners unable to determine how much proposed demand will be built.
