Toyota agrees to build Waymo-equipped bZ SUVs for testing from 2027 Image: Primary
Toyota will build driverless versions of its bZ electric SUV for Waymo, with testing in Japan set to begin in 2027, The Next Web reported. The companies announced the deal on Friday, extending a partnership first agreed in April 2025. Toyota will install Waymo's self-driving hardware, automatic doors and a power tailgate at its Takaoka plant, on the same line as the regular bZ. Japan will come first, followed by the UK and other markets that drive on the left. Neither company disclosed production volumes. Waymo's planned London launch depends on obtaining permits.
