MirrorMe says robotic hand played live piano duet with human

MirrorMe unveiled a robotic hand that it says played a live piano duet with a human performer. The company describes the VIVA hand as using tendons to keep its fingers light and rigid linkages to transfer force to the fingertips. It reports joint speeds above 1,000 degrees per second and peak fingertip force of 33 newtons. MirrorMe pairs the hand with its CADA music model, which turns musical instructions into fingering, force and timing commands. The demonstration concerns piano performance; the company did not report results for other manipulation tasks.
