Chinese robotics company UBTECH on June 30 unveiled the UWORLD U1 Series, a line of full-size ultra-bionic humanoid robots the company said are the first designed for mass production. The launch took place at UBTECH's 2026 Global Launch Event in Shenzhen. The lineup includes three models: the U1 Lite semi-torso edition, the high-performance full-body U1 Pro, and the high-dynamic full-body U1 Ultra, with pricing starting from 119,800 RMB. As of launch day, cumulative orders surpassed 13,361 units. The U1 Series features 88 degrees of freedom and a proprietary dual-pivot biomimetic cervical spine, enabling it to replicate up to 90% of fundamental human movements, according to the company. The robots are powered UBTECH founder and CEO James Zhou outlined a three-stage vision for human-robot collaboration: completing hazardous work, expanding into companionship and service applications, and advancing toward seamless human-robot interaction. UBTECH said it plans to donate 100 customized U1 Series robots in 2026 to support vulnerable groups including children separated from parents, older adults living alone, and families in difficult circumstances, as part of a "Human-Robot Companionship Initiative."
