Commonwealth Fusion Systems announced an agreement to purchase more than 10,000 km (3 GA-m) of high-temperature superconducting tape from Fujikura for its planned ARC fusion power plants. Fujikura is investing in additional manufacturing capacity to supply the order.

CFS plans to use the material beginning with its first grid-scale plant at the Fall Line Fusion Power Station in Chesterfield County, Virginia. Chief executive Bob Mumgaard said the company is placing orders to prepare for ARC execution once its SPARC fusion machine achieves Q>1, meaning fusion energy output exceeds the energy supplied to the plasma.
