Volkswagen intends to explore options for exiting its Moia robotaxi business by the end of 2026, including a sale to investors or liquidation, Heise reported, citing Wirtschaftswoche's account of an internal strategy paper. The report says Moia is no longer central to the company's plans for 2030.

Moia is testing autonomous VW ID.Buzz vehicles in Hamburg with technology from Mobileye, but company insiders say the system has not demonstrated Level 4 autonomy. The report says Volkswagen is reluctant to fund the billions needed for further development and that Uber and Lyft have withdrawn their interest as potential investors. An exit remains an option, not a decision.
