LineageOS 24 rolls out with Android 17 and browser installation tools

LineageOS 24 rolls out with Android 17 and browser installation tools Image: Primary
LineageOS 24 builds are rolling out with Android 17 and new browser-based installation tools, 9to5Google reported. The release lets users of supported devices upgrade to the newer operating system and includes security patches through October 2026. The optional tools use WebUSB to handle installation protocols, including ADB Fastboot, Amlogic Burn and Samsung Odin, reducing the need for extra desktop software. Standard device installation guides remain supported. The Updater also enables streamed updates by default on A/B devices. Devices using Linux kernels 4.4 and 4.9 cannot receive new LineageOS 23.2 or 24.0 builds, but retain monthly security patches on LineageOS 22.2.
