# ASML to support Tata’s planned $11 billion chip factory in India

ASML is preparing to supply equipment and support for Tata Electronics' planned chip factory in Dholera, Gujarat. Tata has described an investment of about $11 billion and capacity of up to 50,000 silicon wafers a month, with technology support from Taiwan's Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation.

ASML makes lithography systems, which print circuit patterns on wafers. Its role also covers software, maintenance services, training and supply-chain development. The company has established an Indian legal entity and is setting up a customer-support office.

The factory is intended to make chips for vehicles, phones and other products. It must still complete construction, installation and qualification before commercial production.
