# Zoox unveils production-ready robotaxi design for mass manufacturing

Amazon-owned Zoox has unveiled the final production design of its purpose-built robotaxi, saying the update prepares its driverless fleet for mass manufacturing and commercial expansion, The Robot Report reported.

Zoox opened public service in Las Vegas a year ago and plans free or trial service to continue in San Francisco, with new services coming to Austin, Miami, Dallas and Phoenix. The company said it is racing to harden software and begin revenue-generating rides in Las Vegas.

The vehicle has no steering wheel or pedals and seats four adults facing each other in a carriage-like cabin. Interior updates include monochrome aloe-green seating with stone-grey trim intended to reduce visual distraction and make forgotten items easier to spot. Externally, reflectors rotate position and color when the bidirectional vehicle switches orientation.

Zoox said this version will be the production vehicle, with manufacturing moving to Hayward, California, and a target rate of 100 vehicles per week as public service ramps up. The company is coordinating its public launch with NHTSA. Last month it recalled software on more than 100 vehicles after a glitch involving driving in heavy smoke.
