# Deepslate raises €7.7 million for speech-to-speech AI

Berlin voice AI laboratory Deepslate announced €7.7 million in seed funding led by 42CAP, with Alstin Capital, SIVentures and business angels participating, Tech Funding News reported. Its Opal model processes and generates speech directly rather than converting conversations into text at each stage.

Deepslate hosts its models in Deutsche Telekom's cloud in Germany and offers deployment on customers' own infrastructure, including environments disconnected from external networks. Artificial Analysis measured time to first audio at 0.44 seconds, compared with the company's stated 250 milliseconds. The company says insurers, contact centres and platforms already use the model in production, but names no specific customers.
