KrebsOnSecurity reported that the FBI's New Orleans field office opened an inquiry into an apparent breach involving idscan.net after a newly launched dark-web service offered digital scans of more than 153 million U.S. and Canadian driver licenses.

The service, Nexus, claimed additional identity and medical-card records. The report linked image timestamps and infrared or ultraviolet scans to identity-verification workflows, but said the source of the records has not been confirmed. idscan.net said it was investigating and did not provide a substantive response.
