AI cloud provider Modal will add Nvidia Vera CPUs after preliminary internal evaluations showed twice the throughput of its existing AMD and Intel processors, Tom's Hardware reported. Modal will retain its current suppliers and choose processors by workload.

Vera uses the Arm instruction set, requiring substantial changes to Modal's software. The company has not disclosed benchmark configurations, the AMD and Intel models tested, or performance-per-watt figures. Its comparisons used currently available processors rather than upcoming competing generations.
