Meta says it has fixed the issue that caused its AI assistant to suggest invasive personal prompts, after a viral video showed Meta AI asking an Instagram user to identify the child in one of her videos.

The user, Kalie Robins, said selecting the prompt led Meta AI to assemble details about her daughters from her previous posts and relatives' posts, and to surface photos she said she had deleted years ago. Meta spokesperson Dina El-Kassaby told The Verge the company "missed the mark" and that the feature never should have prompted such questions, adding that responses draw on information the user already has access to.
