# Google previews isolated AlloyDB instances for AI agents

Google has made PostgreSQL for agents in AlloyDB available in preview, offering separate database instances that let AI agents query current production data without running those queries on the primary database. Google says the read-only instances can start in seconds and scale down when agents finish.

The instances use AlloyDB's PostgreSQL engine and a shared storage layer, giving agents access to SQL queries and vector, text and spatial search. Google says the architecture can support thousands of isolated serverless instances and more than 3 million queries per second. Those capacity figures are company claims, and the service is currently a preview rather than a general release.
