SAP says it has signed a strategic agreement with the Dutch Ministry of Defense to develop and manage a cloud environment in the Netherlands tailored to the ministry's security and sovereignty requirements. SAP will handle maintenance, updates and key aspects of operations; the environment is scheduled to become operational on January 1, 2028.

The deployment will join a broader strategy combining sovereign cloud, private cloud and environments for highly classified information. The ministry aims to reduce dependence on individual technologies and providers and improve its ability to maintain and restore critical services during disruptions, including cyberattacks.
