Google announces 1 GW data center demand response milestone with utilities

Demand response enables Google data centers to limit or shift a portion of machine learning workloads. This reduces overall power demand and helps utility companies balance supply and demand on the grid. The company said the agreements create a solution to make electricity systems more affordable and reliable.
Google has signed contracts with Indiana Michigan Power, Tennessee Valley
It participates in the EPRI DCFlex initiative as a founding member. This work develops frameworks to value demand response as a capacity resource for the grid.
