Cisco Duo introduced Duo Agentic Identity to govern identities for autonomous AI agents in enterprise settings.

The platform extends Cisco Identity Intelligence to deliver continuous visibility into active agents. It detects agents that have not registered with traditional identity providers by monitoring network communications in addition to authentication events.

Duo Agentic Identity registers each agent as a distinct identity object in Duo Directory. Every agent is linked to a human owner, placed in groups for policy application, and authenticated with complete activity logging from onboarding through decommissioning.

Least-privilege controls are applied through an MCP gateway positioned between agents and target systems. The gateway inspects every tool call request and enforces authorization rules at the per-action level.

The offering integrates with OAuth 2.1 and the Model Context Protocol. It operates across both identity and network layers to support shadow agent discovery and consistent policy enforcement.
