Oura Acquires Doublepoint to Expand AI-Driven Interaction Capabilities

Oura is acquiring Doublepoint, a privately held Helsinki-based company founded in 2020. Doublepoint specializes in AI-driven biometric gesture recognition technology that enables control of devices with simple natural movements. The acquisition adds Doublepoint's four founders and its team of AI architects and builders to Oura. The team pioneered biometrics-based interaction for next-generation computing platforms and will be primarily based in Helsinki. Tom Hale, CEO of Oura, said the move strengthens the bench with world-class talent and reinforces commitment to growing in Finland. Ohto Pentikäinen, Doublepoint co-founder and CEO, said joining Oura will bring the capabilities to a broader audience and accelerate a shared vision for personal adaptive computing experiences. Doublepoint technology helps devices understand small hand movements for faster natural interactions. Layered on Oura continuous sensing, it enables new background features that make everyday life easier. Oura has more than a decade of experience in AI-powered physiological modeling. The company is expanding into new categories through this acquisition, which marks its fourth strategic acquisition after Sparta Science, Veri and Proxy. Oura was most recently valued at approximately 11 billion dollars and has sold more than 5.5 million rings.
