Origin Quantum Computing Technology Co. released its Origin Pilot operating system for free public download in February 2026. The system, designated V4.0, is described as the world's first publicly downloadable quantum computer operating system. It functions as an integrated quantum-classical-AI computing platform that supports superconducting, ion trap, and neutral atom hardware.

Co-founder Guo Guoping presented the release as a shift to open-source ecosystem development. The company, headquartered in Hefei, Anhui Province, was founded in September 2017 as a spinoff from the CAS Key Laboratory of Quantum Information at the University of Science and Technology of China. It has raised approximately 150 to 165 million dollars entirely from domestic Chinese investors and carries an implied valuation of approximately 950 million dollars based on a 2025 secondary transaction.

Origin Quantum employs more than 200 people and holds 234 quantum computing patents. Its flagship Origin Wukong system uses a 72-qubit superconducting chip launched in January 2024. The company reported approximately 14 million dollars in revenue for 2024 while operating at a loss, consistent with other pure-play quantum computing firms.
