Zuckerberg directs Meta to explore partnerships with Polymarket and Kalshi while building prediction markets app

Mark Zuckerberg has urged Meta executives to explore partnerships with Polymarket and Kalshi as the company builds a prediction markets app called Arena, three employees with knowledge of the matter said. The New York Times reported that Zuckerberg has made Arena a top priority. The app will use video game like points instead of real money wagers used Zuckerberg plans for Arena to target users ages 18 to 34 and reach at least 100 million monthly active predictors. The app would allow bets on sports, culture, entertainment, politics and finance against friends and family. Executives have called it an app designed for everyone. Ime Archibong, a Meta vice president of product leading the Arena initiative, said in an internal post last month introducing the app: We believe that prediction markets are one of the more interesting new content types. With the right containers, the social conversation is the payoff as people aim to show off how good they are at predicting things to their friends. Meta, Polymarket and Kalshi declined to comment.
