Tower Semiconductor announced a collaboration with NVIDIA on silicon photonics for 1.6T data center optical modules. The modules support AI infrastructure and use Tower's advanced platform. They are designed for NVIDIA networking protocols. Tower's silicon photonics enables up to double the data rate of prior solutions. This increases bandwidth and throughput for optical connectivity. The technology speeds AI application performance. Russell Ellwanger, CEO of Tower Semiconductor, said the company is proud to deliver advanced high-speed technologies that support demanding data center and AI requirements. He said Tower continues to invest significantly across its SiGe and silicon photonics platforms. Gilad Shainer, senior vice president of networking at NVIDIA, said the exponential growth of AI is driving the need for a new class of high-speed scalable networking to connect AI infrastructure. He said NVIDIA is collaborating with Tower Semiconductor to advance the ecosystem.
