The IPC and the Ontario Human Rights Commission have developed joint principles to guide the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence systems. These principles are designed to help organizations develop, deploy and use artificial intelligence in ways that maintain public trust by respecting privacy and human rights.

The IPC and the Ontario Human Rights Commission sent a letter to Michelle E. DiEmanuele, Secretary of the Cabinet. The letter explains how the IPC-OHRC Principles align, support and complement the Ontario Public Service's AI Principles. It provides further detail to strengthen protections for privacy and human rights.

The letter notes that the principles enhance fairness, transparency and accountability in the use of artificial intelligence systems.
