British startup Worldmodeldata says it has licensed almost 1 million hours of video game data for training AI systems that learn how actions affect a simulated environment. It packages game visuals alongside players' controller inputs so model developers can study sequences of actions and consequences.

The company has not named the studios behind the licensed games. Researchers quoted by WIRED also caution that game physics can omit details needed for precise real-world manipulation, limiting how useful the data may be for controlling robots.
