Utah has authorized AI pilots for chronic-condition prescription renewals and pelvic-floor physical therapy alongside its acne-treatment pilot, Gadget Review reported. The approvals cover three companies under the state's regulatory sandbox.

August AI will assist renewals of existing, non-controlled prescriptions, starting with approximately 148 medications. A Utah-licensed physician reviews each renewal; the system cannot issue new prescriptions, change dosages or substitute medications. Expect Fitness will test telehealth with licensed physical therapists overseeing intake, treatment planning and follow-up.

The pilots run for 12 months with state monitoring and six independent evaluators. Nolla Health's initial acne prescriptions currently require clinician approval; conditions for a possible move beyond prior review are not publicly specified.
