# Vercel adds Particle-1 coding model to AI Gateway

Vercel announced that Particle AI's Particle-1 is available through AI Gateway, giving developers API access to a model focused on software engineering tasks. The model is post-trained on DeepSeek V4.1 Flash and has a 1M-token context window for code and extended task histories.

Developers can select `particle/particle-1` through the API or configure coding agents using Vercel CLI. Its stated uses include debugging, planning code changes, and breaking down multi-step engineering problems. Particle says the model uses fewer tokens through shorter reasoning and fewer rounds of trial and repair.
