NetApp agrees to acquire PEAK for large-scale data storage technology

NetApp has agreed to acquire PEAK, adding technology intended to help its storage systems handle larger data environments and AI workloads. The companies plan to combine PEAK's approach to organizing file information with NetApp's ONTAP software. PEAK's design separates services that track files from the stored data, which NetApp expects will make the combined platform easier to scale and support parallel access to files. NetApp says the platform could serve deployments spanning multiple exabytes, a measure of storage capacity. The acquisition and integration are still planned, and that scale is a company expectation.
