The EU General Court rejected Opera's challenge to the European Commission's decision not to designate Microsoft Edge as a gatekeeper service under the Digital Markets Act.

The court upheld the Commission's conclusion that Edge was not an important gateway between businesses and consumers, despite meeting the regulation's quantitative user threshold. The ruling leaves Edge outside the DMA obligations that apply to designated core platform services, while Microsoft remains designated for Windows and LinkedIn.

Opera had argued that Edge's position on Windows made it a browser-distribution chokepoint.
