# AWS adds Claude Opus 5.5 to GovCloud

AWS made Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5 available through Amazon Bedrock in AWS GovCloud, extending access to customers operating in the restricted U.S. government cloud. AWS says Bedrock provides zero-data-retention support by default, regional data residency, Guardrails and Knowledge Bases.

Anthropic claims the model uses fewer tokens and costs less per token than Claude Opus 5 while handling long-running coding and knowledge work. The announcement does not supply independent performance results or specific GovCloud pricing.
